PROGRAM
Northwest Community Action (NWCA) has staff that works with local jurisdictions (cities, counties, townships) in their efforts to address community needs. Among the services that we provide are:
- Needs analysis
- Environmental studies
- Grant writing
- Project implementation and administration
One of the programs that we work most often with is the Minnesota Small Cities Program which is offered through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. This program provides grants to cities, counties and townships) to rehabilitate housing (owner and rental), rehabilitate commercial buildings, and replace or install necessary infrastructure (sewer, water, storm sewer etc.).
NWCA also works with other funding providers such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Rural Development), the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Economic Development Administration) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address local community development and economic development needs.
Northwest Community Action currently has programs in City of Karlstad, City of Newfolden, City of Roosevelt, Roseau County and City of Strandquist.
