Minnesota Community Action Day on the Hill March 6, 2024

March 6, 2024

Community Action Day on the Hill was an opportunity to go to the Capitol in St. Paul to speak with our local legislators about the work that Northwest Community Action and other agencies across Minnesota do to move individuals and families out of poverty toward self-sufficiency. Executive Director, Sharon Millner, visited with Rep. John Burkel and together with our neighbor Tri-Valley’s Executive Director, Jason Carlson, visited with Sen. Mark Johnson. Both legislators are supportive of the work that NWCA does for the communities that they represent.

It was such a beautiful day, that visitors (including this ED) were able to view the Quadriga up close after climbing up the winding 62 step staircase. This gleaming gold sculpture is the Quadriga, the Latin word for a four-horse chariot. It was designed by Daniel Chester French and Edward C. Potter, and it is made of sheets of gilded copper hammered around a steel frame.
