Its time again for Northwest Community Action Head Start’s annual Giving Tree project.  This project is done in partnership with members of the community, local businesses, and our agency staff to get Christmas gifts for children within our communities.

Last year the generosity of our communities enabled us to fill 420 giving tree tags! That means 420 gifts were given to children of families in need residing in the counties of Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Marshall and Roseau.

Starting the week of November 11, community members can purchase a gift for a child by obtaining a gift tag from one of our Christmas trees. Simply purchase and return your unwrapped gift to the business you chose the ornament from.

Christmas trees are located in local businesses including: Polaris, Border Bank, LifeCare Clinic, Ronnings and Citizens Bank in Roseau; Border Bank in Badger; Prime Security Bank in Karlstad; Youngs General Store in Middle River; Security Bank in Warroad; and Border Bank in Greenbush. We have drop places for unwrapped gifts at Auto Value in Roseau and Dollar General in Warroad.

If you would like to have a child placed on the Giving Tree this year, please complete the Giving Tree Project Form in full. Return this form via email, mail or drop them off at NWCA in Badger NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 8th, 2024.

NCAP ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Three staff members from Northwest Community Action had the privilege to represent our surrounding communities in Seattle, Washington for the National Community Action Partnership Annual Conference. Attending these events as a whole was a true honor. The networking, breakouts, training, and collaborative work with the community action community nationwide was an unforgettable experience. One of our main purposes for attending this event was a Whole Family Approach concept in which Northwest Community Action is committed to a new innovative cohort for the next two years.

About Whole Family Approach in Community Action

Whole Family Approach (WFA) is a framework designed to build family well-being by intentionally and strategically working with children and the adults in their lives simultaneously. As children, caregivers, and families grow and change across their lifespan, a Whole Family Approach to service delivery will align opportunities to help families address their unique needs and pursue their personal goals. Providing integrated, high-quality, individualized supports to caregivers and children simultaneously through a Whole Family Approach improves both adult and child social and economic well-being, producing a legacy of multi-generational well-being for the family.
