What are SNAP Benefits?
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal program that helps Minnesotans living with low incomes get the food they need. The program issues electronic food support benefits that can help stretch your household food budget.
SNAP benefits come on an EBT card that you use like an ATM or bank card to buy food at most grocery stores. Here’s how it works:
- If approved, you receive a SNAP EBT card
- Each month, your SNAP benefits are loaded onto your card for food purchases
- Use the card wherever SNAP EBT cards are accepted
Am I Eligible?
If you live below the USDA income eligibility guidelines, are laid-off from work, disabled, under-employed, or a senior citizen you may be eligible.
